Mum and Ernest

We are both in our early eighties now, and were married on 11 May 1991.  Our first marriages were during the Second World War - our spouses died in the 1980s.  John's father, Harry Ling, flew Sunderland flying boats over the Atlantic and Indian oceans.  Ernest flew as weather observer in American-crewed Fortresses.

We were blessed with two children each and now have nine grandchildren, and soon a great-grandchild.  During our working lives Pat was a secretary, and Ernest was a weather forecaster.

We are members of Carey Baptist Church, Reading.  Our main activity at Carey is arranging accommodation, as guests of church members, for visiting students and lecturers on the Prepared for Service courses run by the FIEC.

We live on the outskirts of Reading, near to the M4, which is very handy for Heathrow airport.

Sadly, Ernest died in December 2003.  See my article, On The Death Of A Stepfather - An Appreciation

Mum still lives in Reading and can be contacted at kings68A@aol.com
